Description
Listeria (Confirmatory)
Confirms the presence or absence of Listeria (Listeria spp.) in your sample. This confirmatory test is performed in addition to the Listeria presumptive test, if needed.
Listeria testing is conducted in two parts:
- Presumptive – Indicates the presence of Listeria (‘a Listeria-like bacteria was detected’) – this has to be done first – click here for info and price
- Confirmatory – Confirms the presence of Listeria if it was indicated in the first part of the test (‘it really is, or is not, Listeria’) – this test
In most cases, if the presence of Listeria is indicated, you’ll need or want both parts of the test. For example, most tests required for accreditations need both parts. Or, you’d want to be certain that what was detected in your sample really was Salmonella before taking any action like throwing out products.
If the presence of Listeria is indicated in the presumptive test, we’ll proceed with the confirmatory test as well. The confirmatory test has an additional price that we’ll invoice to you only if it was needed.
Note: This test may required when ordering other tests for samples containing un-composted manure or likely to contain human pathogens.
